Pattern- Repetition of a design.

You can see in the background a repeated pattern of stars and diamonds.

Implied Texture- Texture that is only visible to our eyes. Can not be touched or enjoyed, it is only implied it's there.

As you can see on the werewolf, his fur looks very soft and almost real, as if I could reach through the screen and touch it.

Trompe l'oeil- French for "deceive the eye". It creates an optical illusion to appear that its actually there when it isn't.

In the image above, the two characters close to us are real people, while the background is not real and is actually edited in with an art program. It creates an illusion, and tricks the viewer into thinking that the background is actually real and not edited.

Curvilinear- A shape that follows along a curved plane. Characterized by its curved lines.

As you can see the shapes are very organic and round. 

Distortion- Basically exaggerated shapes. For example an enlarged head or elongated arms.

As you can see in this image that the whole body is exaggerated compared to his small arms. 

Idealism- The honest appearance of whats around us. It reproduces the world for what it should be, not what is actually is.

In this image the female is extremely idealized. Her body looks like the ideal woman. The world around her is very pretty and perfect. Looks like what the world should look like. 

Line

LINE

Actual line- Lines that are physically within the image.

By looking at this picture you can already tell that your eyes are automatically drawn the the tip on the tail. Your eyes then follow from the tip of the tail, all the way down the back, the to the head where the main action is. Your eyes also follow the spear back to the dragon.

Psychic Line- There is no real line, instead you create a mental connection between point A and point B. Some examples would be a character looking off into the distance or a person pointing at something/someone else. Your eyes force you to follow the invisible line to that character.

This image shows a great example of psychic line. Instantly your eye draws to the character standing on the hill the your eyes follow to where he is facing. You try to look for what he could possibly be looking at. Maybe the waterfall or the boat beside him?

In this image the clouds follow an organic form. You can tell as they circle around the main subject in the center.
